CRH plants in Ukraine hold the “Let’s turn waste paper into books for our hometown!” campaign

Before Environment Day, we traditionally collected waste paper at our plants to hand over for recycling all the paper we use throughout the year. This year, at the initiative of Yuliya Hike, Environmental Manager CRH, the money thus earned have been used to buy books for local libraries:

The regional studies section of the Odesa Centralised Municipal Library has been supplemented with books about the home city, while 30 books have been presented to the libraries in the town of Vyshneve and the urban settlement of Kriukivshchyna.

The professionals of Podilskyi Cement joined forces with the pupils of Comprehensive School No. 10 from Kamyanets-Podilskyi, and together they collected 1,870 kg of waste paper! The money earned was used to buy 57 books for the school library.

“A library exists only when there is a replenishment of books. And a depository of old books is not a library”, shares her opinion Nina Vasylivna, the director of the library in Vyshneve.

Thank you to everyone who joined this campaign!
