CEMARK has an exciting opportunity to join the CAPEX Projects team as a Contract Specialist who will be responsible for managing the preparation, review, and administration of contracts throughout the lifecycle of capital investment (Capex) projects. This role ensures that all contractual activities are executed in compliance with internal procedures, and project timelines, while protecting the company’s commercial interests. The Capex Contract Specialist supports project managers and procurement teams by providing expert guidance on contractual terms, risk allocation, and claims management in cooperation with legal team.
Key responsibilities:
Contract Preparation & Review:
• Monitoring and tracking of contract and procurement progress across assigned Capex projects to ensure alignment with schedules, budgets and deliverables.
• Draft, review, and coordinate contract documents for Capex projects, including construction, supply, and service agreements.
• Ensure consistency with corporate policies, technical specifications, and applicable legal requirements.
• Incorporate standard terms and conditions while tailoring project-specific requirements.
Contract Administration:
• Maintain an organized contract database and track key contractual milestones (e.g., signatures, deadlines, extensions).
• Monitor compliance with contract terms, deliverables, and obligations.
• Manage contract amendments, extensions, variations, and close-out processes.
Tender Support & Evaluation:
• Support procurement and technical teams during the tender process by preparing draft contracts and evaluating contractual risk.
• Review tender documentation to ensure completeness and legal robustness.
Risk Management & Dispute Prevention:
• Identify contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Support claims prevention through proper contract structuring and recordkeeping.
• Assist in the resolution of disputes and support negotiations related to claims, variations, and contract performance issues.
Reporting & Documentation:
• Prepare contract status reports, highlighting key risks, obligations, and open issues.
• Ensure contract documentation is properly archived and accessible for audits or project reviews.
• Provide summaries and updates to project managers and legal department when required.
Key requirements:
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement regulations, and risk management in capital projects.
• Ability to interpret and draft contractual clauses with commercial and legal awareness.
• Knowledge of Capex project execution processes and how contracts interface with procurement and project planning.
• Experience supporting contract award processes within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Technical background (engineering, construction, or industrial operations) to understand project specifications, scopes of work, and technical deliverables referenced in contracts is preferable.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and project control teams to align technical and contractual requirements.
• Experience in procurement and sourcing processes for capital projects, ensuring alignment of technical, commercial, and contractual aspects.
• Understanding and experience in logistics coordination, and import/export documentation for equipment and materials, knowledge of Incoterms.
• Communication & Negotiation Skills
• Experience with ERP and contract management systems (e.g., SAP, SharePoint, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and document version control tools
